Worthington Leonard

Pawtucket – Worthington “Sparky” Leonard, 92, passed away Monday, February 25, 2013.

He was the beloved husband of Gloria C. (Lefebvre) Leonard for 66 years.

Born in Fairfax, Vermont, a son of the late Wesley J. and Jennie (Ward) Leonard, he resided in Pawtucket the past 67 years.

Army veteran, he served in the Infantry 85th Division in Italy and France.

Sparky was employed by Brown & Sharpe, Providence for 40 years before retiring in 1981, and was a member of the International Machine Association.

He was a member of the Fierlit-Korzen American Legion Post #79, Central Falls; St.

Raymond’s Leisure Group; member and Past-President of St.

Vincent de Paul Conference at St.

Raymond’s Church and a former scout leader at St.

He donated 20 years to Meals on Wheels; 24 years to the Rhode Island Food Bank and also donated time to the sick and elderly in nursing homes.

Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Susan J.

Hart and her husband, Craig of Cumberland; 3 grandchildren, Michael, Jr., Juliann and Robert Hart; a great-grandson, Colton Leonard and many nieces and nephews.

He was the father of the late Michael J.

Leonard and the brother of the late Gladys Gabaree, Mildred Burnum, Dorothy Richards, Bessie Sweeney, Marjorie Posey and Clarence Leonard.

His funeral with Military Honors will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. from WILLIAM W.

TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St.

Raymond Church, 1240 North Main St., Providence.

Interment will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery, Pawtucket.

VISITATION will be Friday 4 – 7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to St.

Vincent de Paul Food Pantry at St.

Raymond’s Church, 2 Matilda St., Providence, RI 02904 would be appreciated.
