William "Bill" M. Tripp

East Providence – William “Bill” M.

Tripp, 87, passed away on Friday, October 12, 2018 at Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center, Providence.

He was the beloved husband of Frieda E. (Maier) Tripp.

Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Clarence E. and Sadie (Svirsky) Tripp.

Army Master Sergeant, Mr.

Tripp served our country for twenty-two years and was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal.

He earned his Bachelor’s degree from Johnson and Wales University and worked for the U.S.

Postal Service before retiring in 1988.

Bill was an avid golfer, swimmer, bowler and enjoyed being with his family and helping others.

Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Barbara DeFreitas and her husband, Gus, of Chelmsford, MA; a son, Kenneth Tripp and his life partner, Lisa Ormerod Costa, of Bristol; three sisters, Lillian Paquin of Sarasota, FL, Marion Cox of Punta Gorda, FL and Beverly Clement of Rehoboth, MA; four grandchildren, Kara M.

Clancy and her husband, Michael, of Santa Monica, CA, Brandon DeFreitas and his girlfriend, JoJo Berton, of Marlborough, MA, Alexander DeFreitas of Chelmsford, MA and Dylan Tripp of Riverside and a great-grandson expected in February, 2019.

He was the brother of the late Kenneth R.

Visitation will begin on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 9:30 a.m. followed by Services with Military Honors at 12:00 p.m. at WILLIAM W.

TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket.

Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Hope Hospice and Palliative Care RI, 1085 North Main St., Providence, RI 02904 would be appreciated.
