Chace, 80, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, April 11, 2025.
He was the beloved husband of Susan A. (Birtwell) Chace, with whom he shared over forty wonderful years of marriage.
Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, he was the son of the late Edward and Edith (Browning) Chace.
Bill grew up in Baltimore and moved to Rhode Island early in his adult life.
He proudly served in the United States Air Force as a radio intercept specialist, stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War.
A man of deep devotion and quiet strength, Bill was an exceptional husband, father, and “Bumpa”.
His love for his family was the heart of everything he did.
Bill had an especially deep and abiding love for his wife, Susan, and together they built a life filled with laughter, loyalty, and unwavering commitment.
He had a passion for cars—especially his Corvette, photography, and was a talented roller hockey player, traveling across the US and Europe for competitions.
Through his talent for rollerskating, he began working as a floorguard at United Skates, where he met his wife.
He was a dedicated manager at Almac’s grocery store and later worked at the paint counter at Home Depot, where he took great pride in helping customers and sharing his knowledge—always going the extra mile.
Bill especially loved taking his children fishing and watching them compete in their volleyball games.
He found joy in those moments, cheering them on and being part of their lives.
One of his greatest passions was fixing roller skates—he took real pride in the craft and found genuine satisfaction in keeping the wheels turning for others at the rink.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three loving children: Andrew Chace and his wife, Katelyn, of New Hampshire; Kori Holmes and her husband, Ryan, of Riverside; and Lindsay Allenson and her husband, Matthew, of Scituate.
He was a proud and adoring Bumpa to six grandchildren: Rowan, Levi, Brielle, Lola, Sunny, and Wade.
He was predeceased by his brother, Russell Chace.
