Pawtucket- Wilfrid Beauchemin, 92, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 18, 2023.
He was the beloved husband of Rita (Genest) Beauchemin.
They would have celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary on July21st.
Born in Pawtucket, Wilfrid was the youngest of 5 children of the late Philippe and Marie Rose (Hetu) Beauchemin.
Wilfrid was a United Stated Army veteran of the Korean War and went on to a career as a talented carpenter.
He worked for many years as a finish carpenter and retired as an estimator for an industrial cabinet company.
Wilfrid was a devout Catholic and a longtime parishioner of the former St.
Cecilia Church in Pawtucket.
He served for many years as president of the St.
Cecilia Seniors Club and organized many day trips, outings, and social events for the Senior’s.
He also served as lector, eucharistic minister, usher and greeter at Masses.
He was also a member of the choir and the Knights of Columbus for many years.
He was also involved in repairing, maintaining, and crafting anything and everything around the church and parish property.
As a eucharistic minister Wilfrid distributed eucharist at Miriam Hospital and the former Pawtucket Memorial Hospital.
In addition to his involvement with the church, Wilfrid enjoyed playing the piano, card games with family and friends, jigsaw puzzles, horseshoes, and for a few years beekeeping.
He was a member of the RI Beekeepers Association.
Wilfrid was a longtime member of the Toastmasters International and the former LeFoyer Club in Pawtucket.
He was also a member of St.
Teresa’s Senior’s bowling league.
Above all, Wilfrid was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be lovingly remembered by all whose lives he has touched over the past 93 years.
Besides his loving wife Rita, Wilfrid leaves five children; Elaine Byrd and her husband, Ned of Onalaska, TX, Philippe Beauchemin of Bradley Beach, NJ, Jeanne Beauchemin of Attleboro, MA, Doris Beauchemin-Moccia and her husband, Joseph Jr. of Wrentham , MA and Marc Beauchemin and his wife, Michelle of Cumberland, RI.
Seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his siblings, Rene, Sr.
Alice, Yvonne, and Armand.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 25th from 9:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. at WILLIAM W.
TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in St.
Cecilia Church of St.
John Paul II Parish, 755 Central Ave., Pawtucket.
Interment with Military Honors will follow at Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter.
In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made in Mr.
Beauchemin’s memory to St.
Cecilia School, 755 Central Ave., Pawtucket, RI 02861.
