Lafond, 62, of East Providence, formerly of Pawtucket, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on 06/05/2025 after a courageous battle with cancer.
A devoted father, loving brother, proud grandfather, talented musician, and cook, Wayne’s presence was a steady light in the lives of all who knew him.
Born in Pawtucket, Wayne was the beloved son of the late Roland and Duimga Lafond.
A 1981 graduate of Tolman High School, he went on to work as a dedicated electrician for 40 years, most recently employed with American Surplus Inc. since 2014.
Wayne’s love for music was lifelong—he was a gifted guitarist and vocalist, in his youth performing in local bands including East Coast Connection and Sweet Revenge.
Whether on stage or in the kitchen, where he spent countless Saturdays experimenting and cooking meals for his family, Wayne poured his heart into everything he did.
He was a passionate football fan who cherished watching games with his sons.
His greatest joy came from being with his family, especially spending time with his grandson Jameson, who brought endless light to his life.
Wayne is survived by his loving sons, Joshua W.
Lafond and his wife Geordana of Pawtucket , and Jason R.
Lafond and his wife Stephanie of West Warwick.
He also leaves behind his cherished grandson Jameson Lafond and step grandson Dylen Fernandez.
Wayne’s love knew no bounds — to him, family was never just about blood.
He opened his heart and his home to many, treating them as his own without hesitation.
Among them was Robert Banner of Maine, whom Wayne raised and loved as a son.
Wayne was a beloved brother to Gayle Lafond, Phyllis Donahue and her husband James, and the late Luann Landry.
He is also survived by several loving nieces and nephews who will remember him fondly.
A true family man, Wayne’s strength, humor, and unwavering love will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Visitation will be held on 6/11/2025 from 4pm until 7pm followed by a small service at William W.
Tripp Funeral Home located at 1008 Newport Ave, Pawtucket, RI 02861.
