Pawtucket – Walter S. Donahue, Jr., 96, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Friday, September 29, 2017. He was the beloved husband of Lillian (Kenney) Donahue for seventy-three years. Born in Dorchester, Massachusetts, the son of the late Walter Scott Donahue and Grace (Hawes) Donahue, he resided in Pawtucket over seventy years. Walter was a World War II U.S. Marine Corps veteran, he served as a 1st Lieutenant Baker Company, 1st Battalion, 6th Regular, 2nd Marine Division in Saipan, Timan and the Okinawa Campaigns and was awarded the Presidential Unit Citation. He was a 1940 graduate of the Boston Public Latin School. Walter was also a 1944 graduate of Bowdoin College, where he was a member and past-president of the Alpha Delta Pi Fraternity; member of the Student Council; Ivy Day Chairman; Class Life Secretary-Treasurer; Class Agent since 1949; Director of the Alumni Fund; Chairman of the Alumni Fund 1980 and he received the Robert Cross Award; Alumni Service Award and was...
