Pawtucket – Walter A. Bielan, 89, passed away Christmas morning, Thursday, December 25, 2014. He was the beloved husband of Lauretta T. (Levesque) Bielan for 62 years. Born in Brockton, he was a son of the late Antoni and Valerya (Blusys) Bielan. Walter was a United States Army veteran and Bronze Star Recipient of World War II, where he served with the 5th Army, 324th Infantry Regiment seeing action in both the Mediterranean and European Theaters earning four battlestars. He was a founding member and past-commander of VFW Post 3264, Mansfield. Walter was a longtime communicant of St. Cecilia Church, Pawtucket, and served as Cub Master for Pack 28 (St. Cecilia’s), during the 1960’s. He went on to become the District Commissioner for the Boy Scouts in Blackstone Valley, Narragansett Council, where he received the George Bucklin Award.
