Vivian Iris Ryan

Cumberland – Vivian I. (Hutchinson) Ryan, 85, of Lantern Lane, passed away unexpectedly at home on Sunday, March 27, 2011.

She was the beloved wife of the late Honorable Harvey J.

Ryan, Esq., a former practicing attorney and Pawtucket Probate Court Judge.

A lifelong resident of Cumberland, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Alice (Evans) Hutchinson.

Vivian began work as a medical secretary for the Veterans Administration in Providence taking a leave in1953 to raise her children, then working as a legal secretary at her husband’s law practice in Pawtucket and eventually as her son’s legal secretary in the same practice.

She loved to dance and also enjoyed gardening and sewing, but most especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

She leaves one son, Ralph R.

Ryan, Esq. of Plainville, MA., one daughter, Lynne A.

Dawson of North Providence, five grandchildren, Christopher, Andrew and Elissa Ryan and Julie and Daniel Dawson, and several nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late Vernon and Milton Hutchinson.

Her funeral will be held Thursday at 9 a.m. from WILLIAM W.

TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket, followed by a Requiem Eucharist at 10 a.m. in Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 120 Nate Whipple Hwy., Cumberland.

Interment will follow at Moshassuck Cemetery, Central Falls.
