Virginia Veronica Salhany

March 27, 1925 — March 13, 2020

Pawtucket – Virginia V. (Avedisian) Salhany, 94, passed away on Friday, March 13, 2020.

She was the beloved wife of the late Fred Salhany.

A lifelong resident of Pawtucket, she was a daughter of the late Neshan and Mary (Marza) Avedisian.

Upon graduation from Pawtucket East High School, Virginia was part of the greatest generation as Rosie the Riveter, building propellers for the World War II effort.

She worked at H & B Machinery, Pawtucket, where she gained the knowledge of bookkeeping, and ultimately retired from Deblois Oil Company in 1990 after thirty-six years of service.

She enjoyed traveling and shopping.

Virginia leaves two sisters, Doris L.

Avedisian of Cranston and Sonja M.

Pollard and her husband, Dr.

Edward Pollard of Norfolk, Massachusetts.

She was the sister-in-law of William Salhany, Sr., Margaret Haley, Lorice Zahka and John Salhany.

She also leaves nieces and nephews including Gregory Pollard and his wife, Susan, Douglas Pollard and his wife, Stephanie, Barbara Mousalli and her husband, George, Kenneth Salhany and his wife, Rania, William Salhany and his wife, Susan, many Zahka family members and many beloved grandnieces and grandnephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

A private graveside service was held at Swan Point Cemetery, Providence.
