East Providence - Virginia “Ginny” Marie (Rainville) Miller, 86, of Riverside, passed away at home on Tuesday, September 2, 2025. She was the beloved wife of the late Charles R. Miller, they married in 1970, and Charlie passed in 1996. Born in Pawtucket, she was a daughter of the late Adolphe and Grace (Cornell) Rainville.
Ginny graduated from Sacred Heart High School and Salve Regina College. She continued her studies at Rhode Island College and Roger Williams Hospital, Clinical Pastoral Education.
Ginny entered the convent and was Religious Sister of Mercy (Sr. Mary Grace Anthony, RSM) for twelve years, having taught at Holy Ghost School in Providence, St. Margaret School in Rumford, St. Michael the Archangel School in Providence, St. Timothy School in Warwick and St. Mary Academy Bay View in Riverside. After leaving the convent, Ginny went on to teach in the North Providence School Department at Marieville School and Whelan Elementary, retiring in 1994.
Ginny and her late husband, Charlie were longtime communicants of St. Brendan Church in Riverside, where she served for many years as an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist.
Ginny leaves behind sister, Arlene Morris; a niece; three nephews and the love of her life, her canine companion, Puff. She is also survived by her cousin, Joan Dipippo. Ginny also leaves many lifelong friends, including the many students she had the joy and privilege of teaching.
Special thanks are extended to Ginny’s compassionate caregivers from HopeHealth Hospice, especially Dr. Ramos, RN Nicole and CNA Tracy. Also, special thanks to her friends, Isabel Sazille, Ken and Lori Prew and Nancy Riccitelli, for their hours of dedication and loving care to Virginia. Without them, Ginny would not have been able to remain in her home.
VISITATION will be held on Monday, September 8th from 9:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. at WILLIAM W. TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Brendan Church, 60 Turner Ave., Riverside. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to either HopeHealth Hospice 1085 North Main St., Providence, RI 02905 or St. Brendan Church, 60 Turner Ave., Riverside, RI 02915 would be appreciated.
