Pawtucket – Virginia “Ginny” M. (Valenti) D’Almeida, 87, passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2018 after a long illness with her loving family by her side.
She was the beloved wife of Alfred D.
D’Almeida for sixty-five years.
Born in Stamford, CT, the daughter of the late Vincenzo and Virginia (Salvetta) Valenti she resided in Pawtucket since 1955.
Virginia attended the University of Bridgeport; the Fashion Institute of Technology and worked for Vogue Patterns, New York City before marrying and moving to Rhode Island to start a family.
She was a graphic designer for the Herald Press, Pawtucket for over twenty years, retiring in 1990 to care for her grandchildren.
Ginny had many interests, but she was most proud of her children and grandchildren and time spent with her family.
She was an accomplished seamstress, designer, figure skater and interior decorator.
Ginny was also a tireless and talented volunteer for St.
Teresa’s School Mother’s Club for many years.
Besides her husband, she leaves behind her three children; Alfred (Robin) D’Almeida of Cumberland, Dr.
Joseph (Sandy) D’Almeida of Rehoboth and Dr.
Patricia (Ben) D’Almeida Averill of Seekonk; four grandchildren, Kristen and Mark D’Almeida, Allison and Benjamin Averill and many cherished nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Katherine Peluso and Frank Valenti.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday at 10 a.m. in St.
Teresa Church, 358 Newport Ave., Pawtucket.
Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Riverside.
Visitation and flowers are respectfully omitted.
