East Greenwich – Thomas “Tom” A.
Thurber, Jr., 72, passed away on Tuesday, November 3, 2020.
He was the husband of the late MaryAnn (Gordon) Thurber.
Born in Pawtucket, he was the son of the late Thomas, Sr. and Pearl E. (Murphy) Roy.
Tom graduated from the University of Rhode Island where he earned a Master of Arts in Education degree.
He taught general education at the Adult Correctional Institution, Cranston, for over twenty-five years prior to retiring in 2000.
Tom enjoyed traveling, visiting historical landmarks and was a diehard fan of Rhody basketball.
His presence will be missed greatly.
He is survived by a daughter, Lauren Galoski and her husband, John, of Warwick; two grandchildren; four siblings, Donna Janicki and her husband, Allen, of Pawtucket, Robert A.
Roy of Florida, Patricia Woodmancy and Lincoln D.
Roy, both of Pawtucket; best friends, David Zartarian and Billy and David Capuano and many nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Kevin Roy.
Services and interment with his late wife in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence, will be private.
VISITATION will be held on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. in WILLIAM W.
TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket.
Due to current State of RI and Health Department restrictions, facial coverings and social distancing will be required.
Upon arrival at the funeral home you will be directed to a parking space.
Due to occupancy restrictions, we ask that you remain inside your vehicle until an attendant usher directs you into the funeral home to offer brief condolences.
