Thomas A. Thurber, Jr.

East Greenwich – Thomas “Tom” A. Thurber, Jr., 72, passed away on Tuesday, November 3, 2020. He was the husband of the late MaryAnn (Gordon) Thurber. Born in Pawtucket, he was the son of the late Thomas, Sr. and Pearl E. (Murphy) Roy. Tom graduated from the University of Rhode Island where he earned a Master of Arts in Education degree. He taught general education at the Adult Correctional Institution, Cranston, for over twenty-five years prior to retiring in 2000. Tom enjoyed traveling, visiting historical landmarks and was a diehard fan of Rhody basketball. His presence will be missed greatly. He is survived by a daughter, Lauren Galoski and her husband, John, of Warwick; two grandchildren; four siblings, Donna Janicki and her husband, Allen, of Pawtucket, Robert A. Roy of Florida, Patricia Woodmancy and Lincoln D. Roy, both of Pawtucket; best friends, David Zartarian and Billy and David Capuano and many nieces and nephews.
