Thomas R. Harris, Ppd, Ret.

Little Compton – Thomas R. Harris, 77, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, surrounded by his family.  Born in Pawtucket to the late John L. and Lucy E. (Ringland) Harris, Tom was married to Bonnie L. (Curtis) Harris for 52 years, and together they raised three children, Scott, Chad, and Kristin, who also survive him.   After serving his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War and obtaining the rank of staff sergeant, Tom achieved degrees from both Roger Williams University and the Wentworth Institute of Technology before serving his community for over two decades as a police officer in Pawtucket.  He retired in 1996 as a Detective Lieutenant and Acting Captain, and later served three years in Bosnia training foreign law enforcement partners on modern and effective policing practices, under contract for the U.S. Department of Justice.
