Pawtucket - Thomas A. Barber, Jr., 78, passed away on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, after a long illness. He was the beloved husband of Susan T. (LaCroix) Barber for forty-five years. A lifelong resident of Pawtucket, he was a son of the late Thomas A., Sr. and Mary (Madden) Barber.
A mechanical engineer, machinist, and proprietor of TAB Enterprises and Tabco Products, Tom designed and built custom tools for manufacturers throughout New England, including ring sizers for Tiffany & Co., heat exchangers for military barracks, magnetic pulse welders for auto manufacturers, and roller die cutters. He was a graduate of St. Raphael Academy and Roger Williams University.
Tom was a devout Catholic, extraordinary minister of Holy Communion, and longtime parishioner of St. John Paul II Parish in Pawtucket, (Formerly St. Leo the Great Church), where he was very active in the Lions Club, Knights of Columbus, Legion of Mary, and the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Some of his greatest passions were the Emmaus and LaSalette Shrine communities, where he dedicated 40 years of his life to serving others.
Tom leaves his wife Susan, three sons, Thomas A. Barber, III, and his wife, Erin, of North Attleboro, Gregory C. Barber of Nashville, TN, and Joshua T. Barber of Pawtucket; five grandchildren, Thomas A. Barber, IV, Desmond and Theresa Barber, Alex and Lolah Barber; two siblings, Kathleen Doyle of Rocklin, CA, and Mary Jo Kennedy, and her husband, Lester Kennedy, of Beacon Falls, CT, and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Ann Laliberte and John Barber.
The funeral will be held on Friday, March 6th at 9 a.m. from WILLIAM W. TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Cecilia Church of St. John Paul II Parish, 755 Central Ave., Pawtucket. VISITATION will be held on Thursday, March 5th from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to either St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105 or the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N.
