Therese L. Chartier

Therese L. (Davignon) Chartier, 96, of Pawtucket died peacefully on Sunday, September 18, 2022 at home surrounded by her family.

She was happily married to the late Raymond G.

Chartier for over 57 years until his death in 2007.

Family, friends, and students were drawn to her loving demeanor, and she could and would talk to anyone she met!

Born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, she was the daughter of the late George A. and Laura (Milotte) Davignon and was the last survivor of their ten children.

She was a lifelong resident of Pawtucket.

Therese was a graduate of the University of Rhode Island and earned her master’s degree in Education from Rhode Island College.

She was a high school English, French and ESL teacher, and a substitute teacher in the Pawtucket school system for over 30 years until her retirement in 2017.

With her husband, daughter, and family Therese traveled extensively throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Europe, even having a personal audience with Pope Benedict XVI.

She is survived by one son, Raymond M.

Chartier, and his wife Nancy (Armington) Chartier of Pawtucket, one daughter, Susan T.

Chartier and her husband James P.

Clark of Washington DC, three grandsons, Raymond W.

Chartier and his wife Kayla (Brillon) and Robert A.

Chartier of Pawtucket and Noah Chartier Clark and his fiancé Kasey Sherwood of New York, and two granddaughters, Nicole E.

Chartier of Pawtucket and Dr.

Madeline Chartier Clark and her fiancé Jeff Lawall of Baltimore, Maryland.

The family wishes to acknowledge and give special thanks to the “Angels” of HopeHealth for their loving care of Therese.

The funeral will be held Saturday, October 1st at 8:30 a.m. from WILLIAM W.

TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St.

Teresa Church, 358 Newport Ave., Pawtucket.

Interment will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery, Pawtucket.

VISITATION will be Friday, September 30th 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
