Stephen C. Smith, Sr.

February 10, 1951 — February 4, 2017

Rehoboth - Stephen Collier Smith, Sr., 65, of Westport, passed away at home on Saturday, February 4, 2017, following a year long battle with lung cancer.

Stephen is lovingly remembered by his beloved wife of thirty-seven years, Lynn (Bianchini) Smith.

Born in Pawtucket, a son of the late Kenneth and Doreen (Collier) Smith, he resided in Rehoboth for thirty-one years before moving to Westport in September of 2016.

Stephen graduated from Tolman High School, Pawtucket, in 1970, where he had served as Class President and went on to attend the University of Denver.

Stephen began a long career in the marine industry in 1974 as part owner of Enterprise Manufacturing in Pawtucket, RI.

He held positions at Stokes Marine Industries in Coldwater, MI and began a sales career at Rule Industries in Gloucester, MA.

He went on to the U.S.

Paint Corporation and rose to Vice President of Sales Development at Akzo Nobel, where the company named a building in his honor the “Stephen Smith Yacht Paint Application Training Center”, Cocoa Beach, Florida.

He served on the board of the American Boat Builders and Repairers Association.

Stephen had a love for the ocean and was an avid boater for all of his life.

In his free time, he enjoyed golfing and photography.

One who always saw the best in people, he loved spending time with his family and friends.

Besides his wife, he is lovingly remembered by their three children, Stephen Smith, Jr. of Pawtucket, RI, Michaela LaBrie and her husband, Colin, of Westport and Sharon, MA, and Ryan Smith and Trisha Chakrabarti of Oakland, CA, and his grandson, Cormac.

He is also survived by two brothers, Dr.

Kenneth Smith and his wife, Laurie, of Wakefield, RI and Mark Smith and his wife, Lisa, of Seekonk, MA and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

He was the brother of the late Paula Mekdsy, Craig, Bruce and Pamela Smith.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt.

Carmel Church, 984 Taunton Ave., Seekonk.

Interment will follow at Seekonk Cemetery, Seekonk.

VISITATION will be Tuesday 4 to 7 p.m. at WILLIAM W.

TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket.
