Rehoboth – Stephen E.

Carpenter, 73, passed away Sunday, December 11, 2011.

He was the beloved husband of Geraldine M. (Knott) Carpenter for 48 years.

Born in Seekonk, a son of the late Russell S. and Agnes C. (Peterson) Carpenter, he resided in Rehoboth since 1968.

Carpenter was a graduate of the Franklin Technical Institute, Boston and served in the Rhode Island Army National Guard.

He was a supervisor at the Seekonk Manufacturing Company for many years until retiring.

One of his proudest accomplishments was building starting gates for Trotter Horse races.

He was a former proprietor of Seekonk Sunoco, Rt. 152, Seekonk.

Carpenter was the side-kick/ helper to his mentor, Edgar Nelson of Seekonk.

He was on the Board of Directors of the Goff Gathering Association; member and coach of the Rehoboth Junior Baseball League; charter member of the Seekonk Lions; former volunteer member of the Seekonk Fire Department, and was an avid fan of the Seekonk Speedway.

Besides his wife he leaves a daughter, Allison J.

Boucher and her husband, Kevin; three grandchildren, Brittany-Lee, Noah and Kevin “K.J.” Boucher; a brother, Miles E.

Carpenter and his wife, Joan all of Rehoboth and a brother-in-law, Adrian Knott and his wife, Christine of West Greenwich.

He also leaves several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was the father of the late Stephen Eric Carpenter and the brother of the late Russell and Lowell Carpenter.

VISITATION will be Friday 5 to 8 p.m. at WILLIAM W.

TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt.

Carmel Church, 984 Taunton Ave., Seekonk.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Steve’s memory to Dighton-Rehoboth Citizen’s Scholarship Foundation, P.O.

Box 696, Rehoboth, MA 02769 or the Rehoboth Youth Baseball/Softball Association, P.O.

Box 586, Rehoboth, MA 02769 will be appreciated.
