Pawtucket – SPC Christopher L. Mendonca, 20, a beloved son of Domingas G. (DePina) Mendonca and Luis Mendonca, passed away in New York on Sunday, December 4, 2011 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident while on leave from the U.S. Army. He was an Operation Enduring Freedom veteran of the United States Army, Company B, 2-8 Infantry, 2nd BCT, 4th ID, Fort Carson, Colorado. Christopher was born in Pawtucket and had resided in Holbrook, Massachusetts. He enjoyed dancing and cooking. Christopher was a graduate of Holbrook High School, and aspired to become a State Trooper after completing his service with the United States Army. Besides his parents, he leaves his wife, Kasey (Tapper) Mendonca; a brother, Joseph G. Pires; maternal grandmother, Ana Gomes and his paternal grandmother, Justina Mendonca.
