Pawtucket - Ruth "Jackie" J. (Kent) Borden, 89, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Wednesday, March 12th, 2025.

She was the beloved wife of the late James H.

Born on April 25th, 1935, in Pawtucket, the daughter of the late John J., Sr. and Ruth (Thurber) Kent, Jackie spent her entire life in the community she loved and served.

She dedicated thirty-three years of her career to the Pawtucket Police Department, where she worked as a secretary to the Detectives for eighteen years before transitioning to the role of payroll supervisor.

She retired in 2010, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and service.

A devout Catholic, Jackie was a communicant of St.

Cecilia Church of St.

John Paul II Parish and previously a longtime communicant of the former Church of St.

She was one of the first four ladies inducted into the German American Cultural Society of Rhode Island and was formerly a very active member of the PTA at J.

Potter Elementary School.

Her faith and community spirit were constants in her life.

Jackie cherished spending summers camping with her beloved husband at Ellis Haven Campground in Plymouth, MA.

She had a passion for shopping and enjoyed countless hours with family and friends, particularly at the home of her daughter, Donna and Kevin.

An avid New England Patriots fan, Jackie also delighted in a good Dirty Martini or Spicy Margarita.

She is survived by her children, David Silva of Florida, Jacquelyn Silva of North Providence, Diane Violo of Florida, Donna (Kevin Miniati) Silva of Pawtucket, and stepdaughters Debbie Johnson of Florida and Sherri Turay of East Providence.

She also leaves behind her brother, Gary Kent and his wife, Natalie, of East Providence, seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Jackie was preceded in death by her sister, Helene Rebello, and brother, John Kent.

The family extends their sincere gratitude to Dawn and Paul Silva, Dianna Liss and Mary Madonna for their help and support during Jackie's illness.

In Jackie's honor and at the request of her family, please consider wearing sparkly attire to her Services.

Visitation will be held at William W.

Tripp Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket, on Tuesday, March 18th, 2025, from 8:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St.

Cecilia Church of St.

John Paul II Parish, 755 Central Ave., Pawtucket, at 11:00 am.

Interment will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery, Daggett Ave., Pawtucket.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pawtucket Animal Shelter, c/o 121 Roosevelt Ave., Pawtucket, RI 02860, in Jackie's memory.

Jackie will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Her warmth, dedication, and love for her family and community will forever be remembered.
