Russell Paul King, 97, of East Providence, passed on Saturday, July 8, 2023 with family by his side.
He was the adoring husband of the late Irene M. (McGinn) King for seventy-four years.
Born in Providence, he was the beloved son of the late Manuel S.
King and Lydia F. (Brown) King.
He lived in East Providence most of his life until retiring and moving to Las Vegas, Nevada, for thirty years.
He returned to East Providence seven years ago.
He was a World War II veteran, serving in the United States Army-Air Force for two years as a B-29 tail gunner.
Throughout his career as a businessman, he along with Irene were the proprietors of several companies, most notable; King Fuel Oil, Nationwide Termite Control, Rhode Island Pest Control, Superior Fence Company, Brown Moving & Storage and Risk Free Home Improvement until retiring.
He was a charter member of the East Providence Social Club, member of the Elk’s, New England Callers Association and a Fourth Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus.
He was a Square Dance Caller and published the “Rhode Island Square Dance” magazine.
While living in Las Vegas, Nevada, he enjoyed the outdoors, music and oil painting.
He taught art classes, and provided piano and organ lessons to seniors.
He was an active participant in the Las Vegas social scene, donating his time and talent to many civic and senior organizations, where he was awarded Volunteer of the Year for all of Clark County, Nevada.
As an accomplished horseman, he owned several horses and rode with the Rough Riders of Las Vegas.
But most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.
He leaves three sons, Wayne M.
King and his wife, Janet, of South Carolina, Russell Kevin King of Smithfield and Brian V.
King of East Providence; a daughter, Kathleen L.
Holiday and her husband, Richard, of East Providence; seven grandchildren, Troy King, Marc King, Sean King, Jennifer Winfield, Stephanie Silva, Crystal Viveiros and the late Joel Delgado; seven great-grandchildren, Emily, Skyla, Michael, Braelyn, Noah, Jackson and Logan.
He was the brother of the late Violet Duarte, Clifford King, George King and Francis (Pimental) Devine.
The family would like to thank the team at HopeHealth Hospice, especially Maria, Megan, June and Lisa for the amazing care they provided.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, August 18, 2023 at 11 a.m. in St.
Brendan Church, 60 Turner Ave., Riverside.
Interment with Military Honors will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Wampanoag Trail, East Providence.
Visitation and flowers are respectfully omitted.
