Port Charlotte, FL - Roy S. Taylor, 94, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 26, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Helena E (LaFrance) Taylor for seventy-two beautiful years. Born in Pawtucket, RI, Roy was the son of the late Tom and Julia (Zuba) Taylor. Roy leaves his three children, Susan Laurie and her husband Joseph, of Cape Coral, Fl, Roy (Spud) S. Taylor, Jr. and his wife Crystal, of Greenville, RI, and Lori Medeiros of Port Charlotte, Fl; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Roy proudly served in the U.S. Navy for nine years. He joined the Pawtucket Police Department in 1955 and retired after thirty years of service. During that time, he was promoted to sergeant where some of his duties included being head of the Community Relations team, Detective Sergeant and Prosecution Officer.
