Ronald F. Slovak

September 17, 1945 — May 16, 2022

Pawtucket – Ronald F.

Slovak, 76, passed away on Monday, May 16, 2022.

He was the beloved husband of Barbara A. (Angiolillo) Slovak.

The couple had been married for fifty-two years.

Born in Lewiston, Maine, the son of the late Frank J. and Marguerite M. (Couture) Slovak, he resided in Pawtucket for the past fifty years.

Ron was a proud Vietnam Era Navy veteran.

He was the Chief Financial Officer of Rhode Island Interlocal Risk Management, East Providence, retiring in 2011.

Ron was active in sports throughout his life.

He was an avid golfer, and a New England sports fanatic.

He loved the Celtics and Patriots, but nothing made him happier than cheering on his beloved Red Sox at Fenway, where he held season tickets for the last 50 years.

He was a voracious reader, loved his time with family at Hills Beach, Maine, and after retiring, being a snowbird with Barbara in Bradenton, FL for the last ten years.

Ron loved life and all it had to offer.

He appreciated the simple things.

He was humble, grateful, and a great friend to all.

He always saw the best in people and would give you the shirt off his back.

He treated his friends like siblings and his children’s friends as part of the family.

Above all, Ron loved his family.

He was extremely proud of his three children, but his pride and joy was being Grandpa to his six beautiful grandchildren, who adored him.

He is the best in all of us.

We will continue to honor him by living as he did and instilling in our children everything he taught us.

We will meet hardships and challenges with his courage and strength as shown during his courageous battle with cancer for nine years and the health issues that ensued thereafter.

Ron was a brave and stoic fighter.

He never complained and never gave up.

He always said, “It’s not the destination, but the way you travel”, and his journey will remain an inspiration to all who knew him.

Ron was a wonderful husband and the love of Barbara’s life.

They met in Maine while Barbara was on summer vacation with her family, and were married for 52 years.

Barbara couldn’t have asked for a better partner and together they enjoyed a beautiful life along with their three children and six grandchildren.

This is not goodbye Ron but see you later.

Ron’s family would like to express their sincere thanks to Dr.

Toni Chouieri and his world-class team at Dana-Farber, the wonderful staff at Fresenius Medical Care of Providence, and his medical team at Miriam Hospital.

We also wish to thank our family and friends who have supported us along the way.

Your many acts of kindness and sympathy continue to be a great comfort to us in our time of sorrow.

Besides his wife, he leaves three children, Kristen S.

Nichols and her husband, Scott, of Seekonk, MA, Derek M.

Slovak and his wife, Hannah, of Trumbull, CT, and Jennifer A.

Slovak and her husband, Ryan Henriquez, of Brooklyn, NY; six grandchildren, Camden, Liam, Lyla, Kyle, Roma and Harlow, and a sister, Joyce E.

Roma and her husband, Pat, of Newry, ME.

He was the uncle of Donna, Debbie, Nick and Matt, and the brother of the late Janine M.

His funeral with Military Honors will be held Saturday, May 21, 2022 at 9 a.m. from WILLIAM W.

TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St.
