North Attleboro – Roger J.
Petit, 100, passed away on Friday, January 28, 2022.
He was the beloved husband of the late Irene R. (LaBree) Petit, who passed in 1980.
Born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, he was one of nine children of the late Damase E. and Cordelia (Ricard) Petit.
Roger was a United States Army veteran of World War II.
He served in the European Theater and participated in the D-Day invasion on the beaches of Normandy on June 6, 1944.
Roger also participated in battles in Northern France and Germany.
He went on to a career as a tool setter and worked at Larson Tool & Stamping in Attleboro, having retired in 1979.
Roger was a jack of all trades.
He particularly enjoyed carpentry and working on automobiles.
Roger was always ready to lend a helping hand to his neighbors, friends, and family alike.
He will be lovingly remembered by his family and friends as a true gentleman and a humble member of the “Greatest Generation”.
Roger leaves behind his best friend and longtime companion, Elaine Sousa of North Attleboro, with whom he made his home for the past twenty years; his daughter, Irene Ficicchy and her husband, John, of Attleboro; his son, Roger A.
Petit and his wife, Lorraine, of Swansea; three grandchildren, Andrea Pencarski, Wendy Looker and Kimberly Millar; five great-grandchildren, Shaun Burgess, Melissa Chapman, Katelyn Pencarski, Megan and Alex Millar; three great-great-grandchildren, Landin and Emarie Burgess and Liam Chapman, and many nieces and nephews.
Roger was the grandfather of the late Wayne Looker and the brother of the late Bernadette Bousquet, Diana Oakes, Irene Moyer, Antoinette Bobota, Theresa Audet, Yvette Achison, Alice Bushman and Albert Petit.
VISITATION will be held on Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the CHEETHAM Funeral Home, 1012 Newport Ave., Pawtucket.
Services will follow at 11 a.m. in the funeral home.
Interment with Military Honors will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery.
