Lemoie, 85, passed away on Friday, April 29, 2022.
A lifelong resident of Pawtucket, he was the son of the late Rosario “Curly” Lemoie and Clara (Marchand) Lemoie, the husband of the late Brenda S. (Farrell) Lemoie, and the brother of Paul Lemoie.
He was a caring and devoted father to his three sons, David, James (deceased) and Robert (deceased).
He raised his children by example, showing his love for them by living a life of honesty, decency, diligence, and old-fashioned hard work.
Roger was a kind soul who often wore his heart on his sleeve.
In fact, those close to him would say that he died of a broken heart.
Fiercely independent, hale, and robust until the age of 83, he struggled spiritually and ultimately physically during the last two years of his life after his sons, James and Robert, died suddenly and only one month apart in 2020.
Nonetheless, by sheer determination and grit, he lived independently at home until his final dying days.
Roger also leaves behind five grandchildren: Noelle, Ryan, Nicholas, Sophia and Grace Lemoie, as well as his daughters-in-law, Gina Dias (wife of David Lemoie), Jodi Lemoie (mother of Sophia and Grace Lemoie, and past wife to James Lemoie) and Robin Lemoie (mother of Nicholas Lemoie and past wife to Robert Lemoie).
Roger was enduringly fond of all his grandchildren.
He thought of them constantly and bragged about them incessantly.
They visited with him often and brought him great joy.
Roger was ever grateful for the attention his family showed him and often remarked upon just how lucky he was to always be surrounded by those he loved and cared for.
A true patriot, Roger served in the United States Army from 1956 through 1958 and spoke proudly of his military service and the camaraderie he shared with his fellow soldiers.
Following his Army service, he worked for the Valley Gas Company, starting in the mail room and working his way into upper management until his eventual retirement in 1999.
Post retirement, Roger was very active in the local community, serving on the Board of Directors for the Pawtucket Credit Union as a board member from 1991 to 2002, and then as Chairman of the Board from 2003 to 2010.
He also served on the board of the Pawtucket Redevelopment Agency as a board member from 1991 to 2010 and as its’ Chairman from 2011 to 2019.
Socially gregarious with an easy-going manner, Roger had many friends.
He nurtured those friendships proactively and was rewarded with a full social life.
His was a life well-lived.
Family and friends alike will remember him fondly and miss him dearly.
Services and interment at Notre Dame Cemetery in the family lot will be private.
Arrangements are entrusted to William W.
