Pawtucket – Robert “Bob” T.
Hughes, 77, passed away on Saturday, December 5, 2020.
He was the beloved husband of Rita D. (Cabana) Hughes for fifty-five years.
A lifelong resident of Pawtucket, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Rita M. (Bedard) Hughes.
Bob worked his entire career for the Pawtucket Times having retired as the composing room manager.
He was involved in organizing the first annual Dragon Boat Racing event in Pawtucket and was active in fundraising events for The Times' Merry Christmas Fund during his career at the Pawtucket Times.
He had a passion for performing magic and was a longtime member of International Brotherhood of Magicians.
Bob also loved listening to Smooth Jazz music, spending time outdoors especially in the Berkshire mountain area, and also watching his grandchildren participate in many organized sporting events.
Above all, Bob was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather, who will be lovingly remembered by his family and dear friends.
Besides his loving wife, he leaves three children, Steven M.
Hughes and his wife, Denise, of Cumberland, Sharon A.
Perry and her husband, Henry, of Attleboro and Susan L.
Sheldon and her husband, Steven, of Greene (Coventry); nine grandchildren, James and Callie Hughes, Ashley, Daniel, Matthew, Lindsey and Hailey Perry, Troy and Adrienne Sheldon and a sister, Barbara Desmarais and her husband, Norman, of Lincoln.
He was the father of the late, baby Cheryl A.
He also leaves many nieces and nephews.
Due to the current restrictions of the Covid-19 Pandemic, a Mass of Christian Burial at St.
Teresa Church in Pawtucket followed by interment at St.
John Cemetery in Attleboro, will be private.
Visitation and floral tributes are respectfully omitted.
