Robert M. Laffey

Pawtucket – Robert “Bob” M.

Laffey, 80, passed away on Monday, October 14, 2024.

He was the beloved husband of Janet (Keith) Laffey for forty-eight years.

A son of the late Murad “Marty” and Sophie (Tahmoush) Laffey, he had resided in Pawtucket most of his life.

Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Philip J.

Laffey and his husband, Joshua May, of Columbus, Georgia; daughter, Cara C.

Laffey of Pawtucket; a sister, Elaine Gauthier and her late husband, Ronald, of Pawtucket; a brother, Edward Laffey and his wife, Marcella, of Florida.

Bob is also survived by many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.

Bob earned degrees from Rhode Island College, Providence College, and the University of Rhode Island, and received his PhD from the University of Notre Dame, South Bend Indiana.

Bob taught at Tolman and Shea high schools in Pawtucket for a total of thirty-three years; after retirement from the Pawtucket School Department, he completed his teaching career at Suffolk University in Boston.

At Suffolk, Bob taught Political Science, History and International Relations.

Bob was very proud of his Syrian heritage and was a founding member of Arab-Americans and Friends for Justice in the Middle East.

Visitation will be held at St.

Mary Antiochian Orthodox Church, 249 High St., Pawtucket on Saturday, October 19th from 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. followed by the Funeral Liturgy at 11 a.m.

Interment will follow at Walnut Hill Cemetery, Armistice Blvd., Pawtucket.
