Seekonk - Robert “Bob” Ellis Strom, 93, passed away peacefully while surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, October 6, 2011. He is the beloved husband of Eleanor Edythe (McIntosh) Strom to whom he was married for 63 years; together they resided in Seekonk since 1958. Born in Uxbridge, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Ellis and Esther (Michelson) Strom. Bob followed in the footsteps of the men in his family before him. In September 1943, Bob was proud to volunteer for service as a United States Marine and served in the Asiatic Pacific during World War II. With his honorable discharge as Corporal in May 1946, he received a Good Conduct Award and his unit, Marine Reserves 2nd Division, a Presidential Commendation. Following his experience in war, he yearned to return home to “find a good church and a good woman” to start a new life.
