Danielson, CT – Richard Vespia, 74, passed away peacefully at his daughter’s home in Cumberland on Monday, August 29, 2022.
He was the beloved husband of Charlotte (Weatherston) Vespia, with whom he resided in St.
Augustine, Florida, for over fifteen years.
Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Elmer, Sr. and Mae (Sepe) Vespia.
Richard was a United States Navy veteran of the Vietnam War and went on to work as a truck driver for United Paper Stock Co., Pawtucket.
He was also a member of Teamsters Local 251.
In his free time, Richard enjoyed fishing and boating and was a longtime member of the West Warwick American Legion, Post # 2, where he enjoyed spending time with his many friends.
Besides his wife, Richard leaves two daughters, Anne Marie Sanborn and her husband, John, of Danielson, CT, and Renee Bowles and her husband, William, of Cumberland; two grandsons, David Crowley, and Daniel Vespia and his wife, Michelle; four siblings, Elmer Vespia, Jr., of Coventry, Katherine Plante and her husband Richard of Homosassa, FL, Anne Charpentier and her husband, Leo, of West Warwick, and Robert Vespia of Hope; He was the brother of the late Anthony Vespia.
His former wife and friend, Carol A.
Vespia, and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are welcome to attend a Service followed by Military Honors on Wednesday at Noon at Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, 301 South County Trail, Exeter.
