Pawtucket – Raymond Walmsley, 71, passed away unexpectedly at home on Friday, January 26, 2018.
He was the husband of Nancy (Boory) Walmsley for 47 years.
A lifelong resident of Pawtucket, he was the son of the late Samuel and Phyllis (Kay) Walmsley.
In his youth, Ray played basketball for St.
George’s Episcopal Church, Central Falls and ran on the track team at Pawtucket High School West.
He went on to serve his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Era and the Cuban Missile Crisis.
Ray worked as a tool maker and machinist for many years at Norton Company, Cranston; Walco Electric, Providence and more recently at Hasbro, Inc., Pawtucket.
In his free time, he enjoyed being with family and friends alike at his family’s beach home and was an avid Providence College Friars fan.
Above all, Ray was a devoted and loving father, grandfather, brother and friend who enjoyed spending time with his family and especially his beloved grandchildren.
He leaves a daughter, Jennifer R.
Higgins-Cole and her husband, Michael Cole, of Pawtucket; a son, John R.
Walmsley of Pawtucket; a step-daughter, Samantha Bell of Pace, FL; a sister, Ruth A.
McGlashan and her husband, John, of Pawtucket; eight grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; a nephew and several nieces.
His funeral will be held on Thursday at 9 a.m. from WILLIAM W.
TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket followed by a Requiem Eucharist at 10 a.m. in St.
George’s Episcopal Church, 12 Clinton St., Central Falls.
Interment with Military Honors at RI Veteran Cemetery, Exeter will be private.
VISITATION will be Wednesday from 4 – 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to the Disabled American Veterans, P.O.
Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250 will be appreciated.
