Rumford – Raymond McBride, 90, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 2, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Claire (Desilets) McBride for sixty-eight years. Born in Pawtucket, he was the son of the late George and Irene (Doyle) McBride.
Raymond was a faithful communicant of St. Margaret Church and a lifelong resident of Rumford. He was a veteran of the Rhode Island Army National Guard and proudly served his country for over twenty-two years, retiring as the First Sergeant of A Battery, 2nd Battalion, 103rd Field Artillery. He worked for the New York, New Haven & Hartford Railroad as a surveyor for eleven years, and retired from the former Providence Gas, where he worked as a draftsman. He also worked at General Dynamics Electric Boat Division as a draftsman.
Raymond enjoyed camping with his family throughout the country and was an avid golfer. He was a gifted storyteller, known for sharing memories and making others laugh with his vivid recollections and sharp wit.
In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by three children, Kevin McBride and his wife, Colleen, of Rehoboth, Jane Coderre and her late husband, David, of Rumford and Raymond McBride and his wife, Erin, of Virginia. He was the proud grandfather of four grandchildren; Shannon, Kelley, Joshua and Sally, and great-grandfather to Nolan Michael. He was the brother of the late George, Rita (Wheeler), Robert and Francis McBride.
Relatives and friends are welcome to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. in St. Margaret Church, 1098 Pawtucket Ave., Rumford followed by interment with Military Honors at Mount St. Mary Cemetery, Pawtucket.
