Rachel Elinor Monty

Seekonk – Rachel Elinor (Cowles) Monty, 92, formerly of Ellis St., passed away on Friday, April 26, 2013 at the Linn Health Care Center, East Providence. She was the former wife of the late Leo T. Monty, Sr. Born in Northampton, MA, she was a daughter of the late Winfred P. and Jennie (Kentfield) Cowles. After Rachel’s children were grown, she completed her nursing training at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro, MA; and in 1972 graduated at the top of her class and was offered a scholarship to continue her education. Rachel chose a position in the Pediatrics Unit of Sturdy Memorial Hospital where she stayed for 20 years. Rachel then joined the nursing staff of Harris Nursing Home. Rachel was a member of the Epworth United Methodist Church for over 65 years and was very active on many committees. She was also a member of the United Methodist Women.
