Cumberland – Philip R.
George, 86, passed away on Thursday, February 2, 2017.
He was the beloved husband of the late Rita M. (Bouley) George.
Born in Pawtucket, a son of the late Philip L. and Antoinette (Laberge) George and the stepson of the late Claire (Gosselin) George, he resided in Cumberland since 1955.
Phil was a Korean War U.S.
Army veteran and a member of American Legion Post No. 14, Cumberland.
He was an industrial truck driver for the former GTE Glassworks / Osram Sylvania, Central Falls, for thirty-four years until retiring in 1990.
Phil was a member of the Central Falls Glassworks Retirees; Royal Travelers of New England and St.
He leaves three children, Michelle G.
Gagnon and husband, Andre, of Smithfield, Glenn N.
George and wife, Nancy, Colene L.
Smith and husband, Todd, all of Cumberland; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
He was the father of the late Janet M. and Robert D.
George, and the brother of the late Gertrude Eithier and Gloria George.
His funeral with Military Honors will be held Thursday at 9 a.m. from WILLIAM W.
TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St.
Aidan Church, 1460 Diamond Hill Rd., Cumberland.
Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland.
VISITATION Wednesday 4 to 7 p.m.
