Paula A. Matteson

Cumberland – Paula A. Matteson, 63, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 4, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Ruth (Strom) Matteson for twenty-three beautiful years. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Paul R. and Alberta A. (Michaels) Matteson. Paula graduated in 1977 from William M. Davies, Jr. Career and Technical High School, Lincoln, and continued her education at RISDI where she studied Character Design. Her art adorns the ceiling of the former Pawtucket Children’s Museum and will forever live on in the character Hermie, which was created through her ingenious imagination. Paula had an unmatched work ethic which started at Blackstone Caterers, Central Falls, where she worked as a caterer and made her “forever friends.” She had a special place in her heart for children and worked at the former St. Martins Episcopal Church, Pawtucket, where she helped children with special needs.
