Paula A. Matteson

December 9, 1959 — June 4, 2023

Cumberland – Paula A.

Matteson, 63, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 4, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.

She was the beloved wife of Ruth (Strom) Matteson for twenty-three beautiful years.

Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Paul R. and Alberta A. (Michaels) Matteson.

Paula graduated in 1977 from William M.

Career and Technical High School, Lincoln, and continued her education at RISDI where she studied Character Design.

Her art adorns the ceiling of the former Pawtucket Children’s Museum and will forever live on in the character Hermie, which was created through her ingenious imagination.

Paula had an unmatched work ethic which started at Blackstone Caterers, Central Falls, where she worked as a caterer and made her “forever friends.” She had a special place in her heart for children and worked at the former St.

Martins Episcopal Church, Pawtucket, where she helped children with special needs.

Paula continued her work at the former Boulevard Billiard Club, Pawtucket, where she spent over twenty-five years as the manager, and then spent fifteen years as a supervisor at the former Med Tech Ambulance Service, Pawtucket.

Paula was currently working at the helm of her sister’s business, Century 21 Gonsalves-Pastore Realty of Cumberland, where she did “anything and everything for everyone.” Paula was all about her family, which included making their favorite meals on a weekly basis to be shared together.

Nothing was too small to celebrate, and no task was too big for Paula to tackle.

She had a heart of gold, filled with countless friends, endless stories and fond memories.

Besides her loving wife, she is survived by three siblings, Kenneth Matteson and Bradford Matteson, Sr., both of Cumberland, and Robin L.

Pastore and her husband, Tom, of North Attleboro, MA; a stepdaughter, Dawn Edmonds of Providence; her godchild and nephew, Bradford Matteson, Jr., whom she helped raise from infancy; a great-nephew, Thomas Pastore, II; a step-sister, Carol Flanagan and many dear friends.

She was the aunt of the late Alyssa Pastore.

Her funeral will be held on Saturday, beginning with visitation at 2:00 p.m. and concluding with Services at 4:00 p.m. in WILLIAM W.

TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket.
