Minerva Carrion

Pawtucket – Minerva (Hernandez) Carrion, 78, passed away peacefully at home with family by her side on Friday, May 19, 2023.

She was the beloved wife of the late Ildefonso Carrion Rosa, who passed away just four months ago.

Born in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, she was a daughter of the late Guadalupe and Victoriana (Ruiz) Hernandez.

In her youth, Minerva emigrated to the United States to Brooklyn, New York, where she lived until settling in Pawtucket in 1974.

In her youth, Minerva worked as the secretary of Hanover Trust Bank, later went on to become a CNA, and after retirement became a devoted homemaker.

Minerva was a very devout Catholic, and belonged to the former Holy Trinity Church in Central Falls; St.

John the Baptist Church in Pawtucket and more recently St.

Cecilia Church of St.

John Paul II Parish for over twenty years.

She was involved in many of the parish’s ministries including, Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist, Catechist (Sunday School Teacher) and prayer group leader.

Minerva also joined many and co-hosted several Encounter Groups throughout New England.

In addition to her dedication to the church, Minerva was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed caring for her family.

She will be lovingly remembered by all whose lives she has touched over the past seventy-eight years.

Minerva leaves a daughter, Denise Squire, with whom she made her home in Pawtucket; a son, Ronald Carrion and his wife, Christy, of Pawtucket; five grandchildren, Brady and Kayleigh Squire, Ryan, Victoria, and Aaron Carrion; two sisters, Sandra Almeyda and her husband, Gerald of New City, New York, and Dominga Hernandez of Pawtucket; a sister-in-law, Anastasia Hernandez of Pawtucket; a brother-in-law, Pedro Garcia of Pawtucket, and many nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late Regalado Hernandez, Guillermina Garcia, and Pablo Hernandez.

Minerva’s funeral will be held on Friday, May 26th at 9 a.m. from WILLIAM W.

TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St.

Cecilia Church of St.

John Paul II Parish, 755 Central Ave., Pawtucket.

Interment will follow with her late husband at Mount Saint Mary Cemetery.

VISITATION will be held on Thursday, May 25th from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
