Barrington – Michael J.
Frey, 70, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Sunday, December 31, 2023.
He was the husband of the late Leslie A. (Hallmann) Frey for thirty-nine years.
Born in Providence, he was the son of the late John L., Sr. and G.
Muriel (Rooney) Frey.
Michael graduated from Barrington High School in 1972 and continued his studies at Rhode Island Community College and Bryant College.
He was the Assistant Treasurer for the Episcopal Diocese of Rhode Island for several years, the Financial Reporting Manager for sixteen years at the Robbins Company, Attleboro, MA, and later worked for LeachGarner Precious Metals Supplier, also of Attleboro, MA.
Michael was first and foremost a doting Grampy to his two grandchildren.
An avid cyclist and rollerblader, Michael utilized all the beautiful bike paths throughout Rhode Island.
He enjoyed kayaking on the Narragansett Bay and Palmer River where he grew up.
Michael also enjoyed hiking in New Hampshire and reached the summit of Mount Washington several times.
His last visit to New Hampshire in June of 2023 brought him again to the summit, this time by the Cog Railway.
He is survived by two beloved children, Christine A.
Mitchell and her husband, Guy, of North Attleboro, MA and Michael A.
Frey of Pawtucket; two adoring grandchildren, Gavin and Grant Mitchell; ten siblings, Edward T.
Frey of NC, Stephen E.
Frey of MA, Teresa A.
Curria of Warren, William G.
Cabral of Pawtucket, Gerald R.
Frey of Providence, Jean M.
McCall of Central Falls, Patricia L.
Doran of Cranston, John L.
Frey, Jr. of FL and Lois J.
Burnham-Smith of Coventry and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was the brother of the late Barbara V.
Clements and Virginia M.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at 9:00 a.m. in St.
Luke Church, 108 Washington Rd., Barrington.
Interment will follow at St.
Mary of the Bay Cemetery, Warren.
VISITATION will be held at WILLIAM W.
TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket on Friday, January 5, 2024 from 5 pm until 7 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to Save The Bay, 100 Save The Bay Drive, Providence, RI 02905 would be appreciated.
