Maurice W. Fayerweather, Jr.

July 30, 1938 — May 6, 2022

Fayerweather, Jr., 83, passed away at home on Friday, May 6, 2022.

Born in South Kingstown, he was a son of the late Maurice W., Sr. and Margaret (Reels) Fayerweather.

Maurice was a Native American and member of the Narragansett Indian Tribe.

He served in the United States Army and worked for many years as a talented carpenter.

In his youth, Maurice was a pitcher for the Pawtucket Red Sox triple A baseball team.

He was known for his fierce fastball which earned him the nickname “Fireball”.

A true athlete, he also participated in several marathons.

He was an avid fan of all sports and remained loyal to his home teams.

Some of his other pastimes include, watching old western films, fishing, reading the newspaper, and studying the bible.

He was also a very devout and spiritual man, whom maintained a strong enduring relationship with God.

Maurice was a pastor in several of the area’s Christian Churches where he married and baptized many people.

One of his many blessings as a pastor was joining together his daughter and her husband’s hand in marriage.

Pastor Maurice also held a ministry in the prison system, leading men on a path of discovery and relationship with God.

Pastor Maurice loved life, his aura and spirit exuded it.

He took exceptional pride in his wardrobe and appearance.

His laughter and smile were contagious, with a great sense of humor to match.

Pastor Maurice fathered many children, all of whom he deeply loved and prayed for daily.

Above all, he enjoyed spending the holidays surrounded by his family and never skipped a moment he could spend with them.

He was a true gentleman that will be lovingly remembered and sorely missed by all who knew him.

Pastor Maurice was the father of his late son’s John Martin, and Anthony Fayerweather.

He is survived by his children, Curtis Cary of Coventry, Brian Fayerweather of Rhode Island, Morris Fayerweather of East Providence, Ron Fayerweather of Woonsocket, Melissa Fayerweather of Warwick, Steven Silva of Rhode Island, Jason Fayerweather of Warwick, Morris Fayerweather of West Warwick, Melissa McElroy and her husband Jonathan of Fall River, Heather Fayerweather of Fall River, Jennifer Fayerweather of Woonsocket, and Jeremiah Fayerweather of Warwick.

Grandchildren, Shaquila Richards of Warwick, Gianna Angelina Noyes of Woonsocket, and Julian Jasper McElroy of Fall River.

Maurice’s late siblings include his sister’s Nancy and Linda Fayerweather, Marjorie M.

Robertson, as well as his deceased brother’s Rodman D. and Lester Fayerweather.

His surviving siblings are, SandraA.

Smith of Narragansett, Jane V.

Cooley of Providence, Dawn Fayerweather of Providence, Morris W. of Warwick, William E., Thayer E. of Peace Dale, and Stanley G.

Fayerweather of Cranston.

CALLING HOURS for Pastor Maurice will be held on Friday, May 13th from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at WILLIAM W.

TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket, all are invited to attend.

In addition, a MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held for Pastor Maurice on Saturday, May 21st at 2:00 p.m. at CHRIST TEMPLE UNITED Church, 1198 Fish Road, Tiverton, all are invited to attend.
