Wakefield – Mary J. (Almeida) Lacroix, 90, formerly of Pawtucket, passed away on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.

She was the beloved wife of the late Ernest J.

Born in Portsmouth, RI, she was a daughter of the late Caetano J. and Mary Almeida.

Mary was devoted to her family and was a loving homemaker.

She worked at the former Tessier’s Gift Shop, Bartley’s Pharmacy and most recently as a cashier at Stop & Shop until the youthful age of 86 years, only retiring due to the Covid Pandemic.

A devout Catholic, Mary was a longtime parishioner at the former St.

Leo the Great Church in Pawtucket (now St.

John Paul II Parish), where she was a member of the St.

Leo Church Tabernacle Society, Den Mother for the St.

Leo’s Scout Troop, and a Lunch Mother at St.

Leo the Great School.

In her free time, Mary enjoyed reading, making puzzles, ceramics and was a member of the Darlington National Little League Ladies Auxiliary, and Warren & Barrington Senior Centers.

Above all, Mary was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who enjoyed nothing more than spending quality time with her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She will be lovingly remembered by all whose lives she has touched over the past ninety years.

Mary leaves four children, Diane Keaney and her husband, Jack, of Warwick, Suzanne Mello and her husband, Walter, of Lincoln, Ernest J.

Lacroix, III and his wife, Diane, of Pawtucket, and Steven Lacroix of Wakefield (with whom she lived); seven grandchildren, Matthew and Eric Allard, Ernest J.

Lacroix, IV, Stefanie Mezzanotte, Ashley Curley, Courtney Cambio, and Joseph Simonian; sixteen great-grandchildren with one great-grandbaby boy, Cambio, due in October, and many nieces and nephews.

She was the great-grandmother of the late Abigail Grace Allard, and the sister of the late George Almeida, Evelyn Albert, Edith Pacheco, William Almeida, Alice Watson, Lorraine Michael, and Lucille Rebello.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, July 30th at 9 a.m. from WILLIAM W.

TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St.

Cecilia Church of St.

John Paul II Parish, 755 Central Ave., Pawtucket.

Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Providence.

VISITATION will be held on Monday, July 29th from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
