Wakefield – Mary J. (Almeida) Lacroix, 90, formerly of Pawtucket, passed away on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Ernest J. Lacroix, Jr. Born in Portsmouth, RI, she was a daughter of the late Caetano J. and Mary Almeida. Mary was devoted to her family and was a loving homemaker. She worked at the former Tessier’s Gift Shop, Bartley’s Pharmacy and most recently as a cashier at Stop & Shop until the youthful age of 86 years, only retiring due to the Covid Pandemic. A devout Catholic, Mary was a longtime parishioner at the former St. Leo the Great Church in Pawtucket (now St. John Paul II Parish), where she was a member of the St. Leo Church Tabernacle Society, Den Mother for the St. Leo’s Scout Troop, and a Lunch Mother at St. Leo the Great School. In her free time, Mary enjoyed reading, making puzzles, ceramics and was a member of the Darlington National Little League Ladies Auxiliary, and Warren & Barrington Senior Centers.
