Maria Graca Sousa

Pawtucket – Maria Graca (Ferreira) Sousa, 87, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday, January 24, 2019.

She was the beloved wife of the late Manuel P.

Born in Furnas, São Miguel, Açores, Portugal, she was the daughter of the late Joaquim and Irene (Tavares) Ferreira.

Maria came to the United States in her younger days and worked at American Insulated Wire Co., Pawtucket, for over twenty-seven years, until her retirement in 1995.

She was an avid gardener and especially enjoyed tending to her beautiful flowers.

Above all, Maria was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved spending time with and caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Maria leaves five children, Irene Reis and her husband, John, of Seekonk, Madeline Glaude and her husband, David, of Seekonk, Mary Anne Coleman and her husband, Bill, of Cumberland, Joe Sousa of Pawtucket and Manny Sousa and his wife, Donna, of Seekonk, eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews including, Victor Correia and Mary Guilmette both of Swansea.

She was the mother of the late Tony Sousa and the sister of the late Belmira Correira and Ana Ferreira.

VISITATION will begin at 9 a.m. on Monday at WILLIAM W.

TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Noon in St.

Cecilia Church, 755 Central Ave., Pawtucket.

Interment will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery.
