Maria I. Lemos

Pawtucket – Maria I. (Lopes) Lemos, 85, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, December 14, 2014 while visiting family in the Azores, Portugal.

She was the beloved wife of the late Rogerio Lemos.

Born in Faial, Azores, Portugal, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Maria Conceicao Lopes.

Maria was a member of the Holy Ghost Society, East Providence and enjoyed attending many religious pilgrimages and retreats.

She loved to travel and enjoyed visiting her family in the Azores.

Maria was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

She leaves two sons, Helio Lemos and his wife, Gloria of Warwick and Mario Lemos of Sterling, CT; two sisters, Celeste Silva of South Kingstown and Stella Fortuna in the Azores; five grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was the grandmother of the late Matthew Lemos and sister of the late Natalia Furtado.

VISITATION will begin on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. at the CHEETHAM Funeral Home, 1012 Newport Ave., Pawtucket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St.

Cecilia Church, 755 Central Ave.

Interment will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to Amos House, 415 Friendship St., Providence, RI 02907 will be appreciated.
