Maria Docarmo Botelho

June 24, 1921 — July 7, 2022

Seekonk – Maria DoCarmo (Perreira) Botelho, 101, passed away peacefully in the early morning at home on Thursday, July 7, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.

She was the beloved wife of the late Francisco Botelho.

Born in São Miguel, Azores, she was the daughter of the late Hermano and Maria (DoCarmo) Perreira.

Botelho immigrated to the United States in 1977 and worked as an assembler at Hasbro, Inc. for ten years.

Her warm and loving personality touched so many, that she became affectionately known as “Avoá Maria” by everyone.

Maria was a strong, resilient woman who lived happily for over a century and touched so many lives along the way.

She was a loving grandmother, an amazing cook and had a witty sense of humor that resonated with everyone she met.

Her family was the most important part of her life; her love and smile will live on with future generations.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Eduarda B.

Sousa and her husband, José, of Seekonk; four grandchildren, Paula C.

Paluch and her husband, Edward, of Swansea, Jorge Sousa and his wife, Jodie, of Seekonk, daughter-in-law Maria Conceiç?o Botelho, and mother of Monica Briggs and her husband, Michael, of Lincoln, and Dina Woodcock of Seekonk; seven great-grandchildren, Tyler, Nicholas and Abigail Sousa, Joshua and Wendy Paluch, Julia Woodcock and Murphy Briggs; two great-great-grandchildren, Kaiden and Kendall Sousa; two brothers, Gilberto and César Perreira and many nieces and nephews.

She was the mother of the late Manuel F.

Botelho and sister of the late Eduarda and Fernanda Faria, Madelena Amaral and Hermano Perreira.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. in Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church, Coyle Dr., Seekonk.

Interment with her late husband will follow at Swan Point Cemetery, Providence.

Calling hours will be held on Monday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in WILLIAM W.
