Maria J. Cristino

Pawtucket – Maria Jose Rocha (Mendes) Cristino, 90, passed away, surrounded by family, on Thursday, June 15, 2023. She was the beloved wife of Manuel Jesus Cristino for sixty-four years. Born in Vale Formoso, Portugal, she was the daughter of the late Manuel Mendes Alberto and Rosa Rocha Nave. Maria emigrated to the United States and settled in Pawtucket in 1966. She worked for the New England Linen Supply Company for many years until her retirement. Maria was a longtime parishioner of St. Anthony Church in Pawtucket. She was devoted to caring and cooking for her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her rice pudding and French fries were loved by all. Maria loved her dear friends, her family, and everyone who met her was sure to comment on what a strong, kind and loving person she was.  Alongside her husband, Maria leaves two sons, Alfredo M.
