Maria G. Alves

Providence – Maria G. (Gomes) Alves, 90, passed away on Friday, February 10, 2023.

She was the beloved wife of the late Daniel E.

Born in Nova Sintra, Brava, Cape Verde, she was the youngest of ten children of the late Pedro and Maria deJesus (Faria) Gomes.

Maria worked for many years as an artist and photo enhancer at Hargreaves Studios in East Providence.

She was a talented artist who possessed great artistic abilities, including drawing, painting, sewing, crocheting, knitting, and baking beautiful cakes and desserts.

Maria had innate skills and talents that reflected her own personal beauty.

She leaves a legacy of beauty and grace that will be cherished for years to come.

Maria leaves a daughter, Bernadette M.

Ziegler and her husband, Guenther, of North Attleboro; a son, Daniel E.

Alves, Jr. of Pawtucket; four grandchildren, Ferdinand and Michael Ziegler, Shaina Furia and Tanna Marchetti; eight great-grandchildren; siblings, Pedro Gomes in Portugal and Madalena Sacoto of Taunton, and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by seven of her siblings.

Relatives and friends are welcome to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday at 9 a.m. in St.

Teresa Church, 358 Newport Ave., Pawtucket.

Flowers and calling hours are respectfully omitted.
