Pawtucket – Margaret “Rita” A. (Regan) Almeida, R.N., 83, passed away on Sunday, August 26, 2018.
A lifelong resident of Pawtucket, Rita was proud of her Irish Heritage and was a daughter of the late Thomas J. and Mary (McCabe) Regan, both of Ireland.
She was a graduate of the Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island School of Nursing, Class of 1955.
Rita worked as a Registered Nurse at Memorial Hospital until 1963 and was one of the original founders of the Oak Hill Nursing Home of Pawtucket, where she worked for over thirty years.
Rita was a devoted New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox fan and never missed a game.
She was a voracious reader and a frequent visitor to the Pawtucket Public Library’s Bookmobile.
Rita loved playing cards and attending various shows and productions at local theaters with her sister, Patricia.
Above all, Rita was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and dear friend, who loved to spend time with her family.
Rita leaves two children, Robert F.
Almeida and his wife, Mary Ann, of Norton and Amybeth Dunphy and her husband, Patrick, of Attleboro; five grandchildren, Kyle and Colleen Almeida, Katelyn, Patrick, Jr., and Abigail Dunphy; a sister, Patricia Devlin of Pawtucket; a brother, Thomas Regan and his wife, Inez, of Pawtucket; a brother-in-law, George Messier and many nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Kathleen Messier.
Her funeral will be held on Wednesday at 9 a.m. from WILLIAM W.
TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St.
Teresa Church, 358 Newport Ave., Pawtucket.
Interment will follow at Mount Saint Mary Cemetery.
VISITATION will be Tuesday, 4 to 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to the Epilepsy Foundation, 306 Winthrop St., Unit 8A, Taunton, MA 02780 will be appreciated.
