Mabel Edna Edlund passed peacefully on Saturday June 11, 2011 at Stanford Hospital in Palo Alto California.
She was 92 years old, and had lived in California for over 20 years.
She was born Mabel Edna St.
Laurent in Compton Rhode Island on November 30, 1918.
Her parents were Alice Sceeles, born 1888 in Rhode Island, and Alexis St.
Laurent born 1881 in Quebec, Canada and together they raised a total of five children.
She was raised in Providence Rhode Island and completed high school with honors.
She worked in accounting, the local textile mills, and finally worked as the Inventory Statistician for a local company that made construction material until she retired.
She enjoyed many activities and especially enjoyed gardening, hiking, doll collecting, and her pet dogs.
She usually had two dogs.
She loved to grow vegetables and flowers, and spent many long hours planting and tending her flower beds.
She took pride in being able to identify by name every flower in any flower bed.
She walked and hiked in Massachusetts and New Hampshire, especially along the coast lines where old forts were located because of the panoramic views these areas commanded.
In California, she enjoyed the ocean views around San Francisco, and on the coast road along Route 1.
She enjoyed lunch at Alice’s Restaurant in Woodside California with its views of giant Redwood trees.She married Sigfrid H.
Edlund in 1942, they met in high school.
This marriage produced two children, Paul Edlund (b. 1942) who lives in New York and Laura Stone (b. 1944) who lives in California.
The marriage lasted until the death of Sigfrid on August 16, 1977.
She is survived by her son Paul Edlund and daughter Laura Stone.
She has five grandchildren: Christopher, Cynthia, Cheryl, Kirsten, and Kim.
There are six great grandchildren.
Of the five siblings two survive: her twin sister Pearl Ferguson living in Connecticut and her younger brother Robert St.
Laurent who lives in Colorado.
