Atwood “Woody” Delano, 90, passed away Thursday, August 6, 2015.
He was the beloved husband of the late Louise H. (Doane) Delano, the late Anne “Chickie” (Russell) Delano, and the former husband of the late Roberta (Randall) Lother.
Born in North Vassalboro, Maine, a son of the late Merton L. and Irma (Hutton) Delano, he resided in Attleboro and Cranston before moving to Pawtucket over twenty-five years ago.
Woody was a World War II U.S.
Navy veteran and a member of VFW Post No. 14, Cumberland and VFW Post No. 2351, Smithfield.
He was a truck driver for APA Transportation, Canton, Massachusetts for over forty years until retiring and was a member of Teamsters Local 25, Boston and Local 251, Providence.
He leaves four children, David A.
Delano and his wife, Suzanne MacDougall of Warren, Russell A.
Delano and his wife, Janice of North Attleboro, JoAnne E.
Ludwig and her husband, Zachary of Nevada and Robert M.
Delano of Pawtucket; two step-daughters, Elaine Berg and her husband, Sean of Pawtucket and Cheryl Tremblay and her husband, Norman of Cumberland; a sister, Irma Souza of Rehoboth; eleven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and one more on the way; nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and his beloved bird, “Sonny”.
He was the father of the late Patricia Delano and Elizabeth Marsh and the brother of the late Lois Martinez and Roberta Porter.
VISITATION will be Tuesday 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at WILLIAM W.
TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket.
Interment with Military Honors will follow at Highland Memorial Park Cemetery, Johnston.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to Home & Hospice Care of RI, 1085 North Main St., Providence, RI 02904 or the VA Medical Center, 830 Chalkstone Ave., Providence, RI 02908 would be appreciated.
