Pawtucket – Luis de Nobrega, 88, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 9, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.
He was the beloved husband of M.
Fernanda (Nunes) de Nobrega for sixty-six years.
Born in Madeira, Portugal, he was the only child of the late Joao and Maria P. (Teixeira) de Nobrega.
Luis immigrated to the United States in July of 1969 and settled in Pawtucket with his family.
He was a former communicant of St.
Anthony Church, Pawtucket, and was most recently attending St.
Teresa Church, Pawtucket.
Luis worked as a machine operator at the former Texas Instruments, Attleboro, for over twenty-five years before retiring in 1996.
He was an avid Benfica soccer fan and loved watching the Red Sox and Patriots with his grandchildren.
Luis enjoyed spending many summers in his native island of Madeira with family and friends.
Besides his wife, he is survived by four children, John Nobrega and his wife, Otilia, of Cumberland, Joseph Nobrega and his wife, Georgette, of Pawtucket, Rita DeOliveira and her husband, Daniel, of North Providence and Fernanda Nobrega and her fiancé, David, of Connecticut; five grandchildren, Derek Nobrega and his wife, Janelle, Neal Rei and his wife, Meagan, Ashley Nobrega, Colby Rei and Kayla DeOliveira; two great-grandchildren, Celia and Miles, and extended family and friends on Madeira Island.
A private Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St.
Teresa Church, Pawtucket, followed by interment in Mount St.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Alzheimer’s Association, 245 Waterman St., Suite 306, Providence, RI 02906, would be greatly appreciated.
