Louis L. Salhany

Louis L. Salhany, 75, of Lincoln, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, August 4, 2026. He was the loving companion of Lois Abrams for more than thirty years and the son of the late Leo E. and Mary (Massud) Salhany. He was predeceased by his sister, Bernadette Salhany. For forty years, Lou devoted himself to teaching at Shea High School in Pawtucket, shaping countless young lives before retiring to Florida. A man of deep faith, he served the Church of St. Basil the Great in Lincoln with unwavering dedication-participating on committees, teaching Sunday School, and serving as an altar server well into adulthood. His commitment to helping others extended beyond the church through his work with the St. Vincent de Paul Society Damascus Branch, where he supported the poor and vulnerable in the community.

Lou will be remembered as someone who would do anything for anyone. His kindness knew no bounds, and he was always ready to lend a helping hand without expecting anything in return. His caring heart, generous spirit, and fun-loving personality made everyone feel welcome, valued, and loved. A gifted photographer, he captured cherished family moments and beautiful vistas, preserving memories with an artist's eye. He also found joy on the water as a longtime sailor and member of both the Allen Harbor Marina in North Kingstown and the Venice Sailing Squadron in Venice, Florida.

Lou also loved cooking for others. He enjoyed hosting dinners, gathering friends and family around the table, and sharing the Syrian and Mediterranean dishes he grew up with. Whether grilling outdoors or preparing a favorite family recipe, he found joy in feeding people and creating warm, memorable moments.

Above all else, Lou was a devoted father, grandfather, friend, and mentor whose legacy lives on through the family he adored, the friendships he cultivated, and the countless lives he touched through his generosity and compassion. He will be profoundly missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him. May his memory be eternal.

Lou is survived by his beloved companion, Lois Abrams; his children, Kenneth Salhany of Woonsocket and Kerri Salhany and her partner Tim Corlett of Smithfield; and his cherished granddaughters, Chloe and Brianna Corlett. He leaves many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Sunday, August 9, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the William W. Tripp Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket, RI. A Trisagion prayer service will be offered at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, August 10, beginning at 9 a.m. at Tripp Funeral Home, followed by the funeral service of the deceased at 10 a.m. in the Church of St. Basil the Great, Melkite Catholic Church, 15 Skyview Drive, Lincoln. This will be followed by a Trisagion prayer service and interment at St. Basil's Melkite Cemetery, Cumberland, RI.
