Louis "Lou" R. Read

Cumberland – Louis “Lou” R.

Read, 76, passed away unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, May 24, 2016.

Born in Providence, a son of the late Louis F. and Elsie M. (Wildgust) Read, Lou resided in Pawtucket until moving to Cumberland in 1977.

He was a Patrolman for the Pawtucket Police Department for thirty years before retiring in 1997.

Lou was a car enthusiast “In recognition of the upgrading of his vehicles and collection, his on-going work in the car collectors world, for the many years of dedication to the antique and car collector world, and his knowledge of antique cars.

He started purchasing vehicles when they could be bought for “cheap money”.

He has the knack for finding the great buys and capitalizing on it.

He believes in good, original vehicles and best of all, he believes in driving them – not just storing them.” He leaves four children, Donna M.

Handel and her husband, Craig, Robert L.

Read, Deborah Ann Read and her fiancé, Donald Soares, II and Shaun Louis Read and his wife, Melissa all of Cumberland; a granddaughter, Megan Read Partridge and a sister, Sandra Cross of Arizona.

His funeral will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m. from William W.

Tripp Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket, followed by Committal Services at 11 a.m. at Mt.

Mary Cemetery Chapel, 661 Prospect St., Pawtucket.

VISITATION will be Friday 4 to 7 p.m.
