Pawtucket – Lionel “Uncle Pint” E.
Roy, 96, of Celebration, Florida, formerly of Pawtucket, beloved uncle, father figure, husband, brother, son and friend passed away Saturday, November 26, 2011.
He was the beloved husband of the late Stella M. (Lemieux) Roy.
Born in Central Falls, a son of the late Emery H. and Regina A. (Juaire) Roy, he resided in Pawtucket most of his life before moving to Florida in 2008.
A highly decorated World War II U.
Army veteran, he was a recipient of many deserved medals, including the Purple Heart, Silver Star and the French Legion of Honor award.
Lionel fought bravely and valiantly for our country.
He was a member of the Celebration Veterans Club and a life member of the AMVETS and DAV.
He was employed by the Joseph M.
Ott Company, Pawtucket, for thirty-three years before retiring in 1980.
Pint, as he was known, lived a full and wonderful life.
He saw the invention of the television, helicopter, microwave and computer.
Lionel witnessed spaceflight at its dawn, and saw firsthand, the end of the space shuttle era.
However, all that he has seen and done is dwarfed by the impact that he had on the lives of everyone who knew and loved him.
His family, friends and especially his great-nieces and nephews are thankful for every minute that they spent with him.
His smile lit up the room and he was always the life of the party.
To say that he will be missed in an understatement.
The Red Sox, Patriots, Bruins and Celtics lost a diehard fan and his friends lost a man that can never be replaced.
Uncle Pint leaves nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
He was the brother of the late Ella Y.
Sanville, Wilfred E. and George L.
His funeral with Military Honors will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. from WILLIAM W.
TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St.
Joseph Church, 195 Walcott St., Pawtucket.
