East Providence – Linda M.
Ruel, 57, of Rumford, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Thursday, March 9, 2017.
Linda was born in Pawtucket, a daughter of June M. (Harris) Ruel of Pawtucket and the late Marcel Ruel.
She had many interests and enjoyed life to the fullest.
Linda was an avid Patriots fan and was a season ticket holder for several years.
She enjoyed visiting the Hall at Patriot Place annually, the day after the Super Bowl - her own special holiday.
She enjoyed several PawSox games at McCoy Stadium in Pawtucket and Red Sox games at Fenway Park in Boston every year.
Linda was a history buff.
She was a member of the Civil War Roundtable and participated in battle reenactments with Battery B.
She made several trips to Gettysburg.
She was very interested in local history and was in the process of creating a photographic book of historic mill buildings and store fronts of Pawtucket and Central Falls.
Some of her favorite places to visit were Slater Mill and the Museum of Work and Culture.
Linda also was in the process of researching her family history and was enhancing the documented genealogy of the Ruel family.
Linda also enjoyed the outdoors and nature.
She loved visits to Second Beach in Middletown, nature photography and nature programs at the Audubon Society of Rhode Island.
Some of her most memorable trips were to Hawaii, Yellowstone Park, and Utah.
Besides her loving mother, Linda leaves a sister, Laurie J.
Ostrander and her husband, Michael of Coventry; a brother, David S.
Austin and his wife, Francesca of Attleboro; two nieces, Victoria and Stephanie Austin and a nephew, Ryan Austin.
In addition to her loving family, Linda leaves behind her work family at Kent Hospital, where she was a long-time laboratory employee; her Utah family - the Robinettes; and her church family.
Her faith was very important to her and she found the perfect fit with the Mormons.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Providence.
A Celebration of Her Life will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at WILLIAM W.
TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket.
Interment will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery.
VISITATION will be on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the VNA of Care New England, the American Cancer Society, or the Audubon Society of Rhode Island in Linda's memory would be appreciated.
